Johnny Rodriguez is the founder of the Athletes vs. ALS initiative and the former Head Coach of the Mater Dei High School boys' lacrosse team.
About
Following his diagnosis in October 2023, Johnny launched Athletes vs. ALS in partnership with Augie’s Quest to Cure ALS. The initiative mobilizes athletic teams to dedicate games to the cause, creating revenue streams for ALS research through Augie’s Quest to Cure ALS.
He applies the principles of team sports to patient care, building dedicated support networks that ensure no individual has to face the disease in isolation.
A former Division III National Champion goalkeeper at Salisbury University, Johnny served as Mater Dei’s Head Coach for eight seasons. He is based in Orange County, California, where he lives with his wife, Cristina, and their three children.
